A kayaker on a lake with common loons on a misty morning in Maine

Summer & Fall

There is something truly magical about Maine during the Summer and Fall seasons. Summer brings with it the welcoming wide-open shores of the Atlantic Ocean where one can opt to venture out into the ocean for lobster & deep-sea fishing, whale watching, or taking a moment to sit in the sand with a favorite book and let the children dig for crabs. Take a ferry to an island, step back in time for the day to leisurely explore, have dinner, and return to the mainland. Inland, there are miles and miles of countless lakes and streams with fun watersports and outdoor adventures that summer brings; from boating, kayaking, and white water rafting to hiking, ATVing, or foraging for wild mushrooms along the riverbanks.

Still, the Fall season is likely what brings the most visitors to the state. The jaw-dropping foliage is so brilliant and plentiful it can be seen for miles. Breathtaking almost describes the beauty our state is blanketed in but there is also the smell of the fresh, clean, crisp air in Autumn that can only be experienced in person. The apple orchards are full of sweet, juicy apples ripe for picking and the quaint small towns people are dressing their doorways for Halloween, a New England favorite! And for the manly men, Fall is also the time to hunt local big game from deer, bear and moose to rabbit and grouse. See below for a list of some of the many activities Maine has to offer this time of year. We hope you come to visit soon!
